Hi Paul, Thanks for the great stories about the Daytona, especially that find in the farmer's field. That's the stuff of legends. Turns out the one I was thinking of was a predecessor to the Daytona/Superbird. It was called the Charger 500, and along with the flush rear window, it had a flush grill (as opposed to the usual recessed one) with exposed headlights (lifted from the Monaco, I think) also for aerodynamics. It was a '69 model, and was called 500 because that was the minimum for homologation. It won a few races, but not enough. Buoyed by the increase in speed with those little changes, they went absolutely nuts, and came up with the Daytona, and the rest is history. Thanks again for that PAW that took us down memory lane.
