I am an old dog too :-)
I just never had a monopod before - and I never thougt of using a tripod
this way, whic is - I suppose psosible, allthough not very convenient.

Some time ago I read a small article in German Fotomagazin. A Swiss guy
(Hans Auer) had made a "aerial photography" stand - 18m high. It is equiped
with a monitor system (for digital cameras), which makes it possible to use
the viewfinder while the is elevated. Unfortunately this stand is very
expensive - 13.000 Euro, including a digital camera.

See Hans Auer's website - very interesting website, featuring small
animations : http://www.luftbilder.ch

I guess I suddenly remembered this article.

A new dog learns an old trick (grin). I wonder why us old dogs have not
mentioned that trick before? You lose no points for rediscovering it
however,
since you did it all by yourself.
