[second post, first one sent at 6:31 pm did not show in digest] Tom,
I have one for use with my SMC Pentax 500/4.5. I keep a 3272 QR plate on the lens, and I find that it provides good solid support (the QR plate is also a good grip for those infrequent 500/4.5 hand-held shots). There is enough "slide" in the QR system to achieve balance for different combinations of light and heavy bodies (e.g. MZ-5N to LX with winder) and teleconverters (2X-L or 1.4X-L and/or 2X-S). I can find a stable point with any combination. I also use the "long lens support" on occasion. You have to be careful not to bash the back of your head if you carry the tripod with head-on using the tripod shoulder strap. All you have to do is angle the head out of the way, which you tend to remember after one or two 'encounters'. Jim www.jcolwell.ca
