I find my Acer 2720s adequate for my needs. 2700 DPI fairly low noise levels. When I bought it I paid less than $300.00 US
I expect that you could get the same scanner from Banq, (the people who bought Acer's scanner business), for a bit less with Digital
Ice built in. (I sometimes wish I could scan larger slides/negatives than 35mm but a decent med. format would have been an order of
magnitude more expensive).

from the questioner:

What kind of scanners are people using? Are most of you developing your black and white film yourselves and scanning it in? Is a cheaper scanner adequate?

Is there a reason that I've read in any number of places that in order to be a good photographer you need to learn how to develop b+w film?

Thanks in advance
Paul
