I agree that the 3200 is virtually useless but I HAVE shot several serviceable shots at 1600 and lots of nice stuff at 800.

Not 1000 shots yet Ryan, but just a couple of hundreds :-). I'm trying out
flashes and lenses. I am a litle disappointed to find out that the *ist D
does NOT support Red Light AF-assist (comming from my Metz SCA 374/2 AF
adapter). The manual *ist D says, that AF-assist should work with the
AF500FTZ - but I fear this is just annother "white pre-flash", which I don't
enjoy much? I'll have to try this tomorrow.

I even tried to shoot at 3200 ASA. Not exactly impressing quality. I guess I
didn't expect 3200 ASA to be great, but I guess 3200 ASA can be usefull in
extreme (lack of) light conditions.

Congrats Jens! You've had it an hour, so I'm guessing you're at your 1000th
shot? :)

Mine's still wandering the postal system.. (Oh do hurry up!)

Cheers,
Ryan

From FOTO-PORST in Berlin - after just 4 days - my *ist D arrived
Saturday,
while I was in Toender, listening to a lot of folk music. (Whish I had my
*ist D with me...)

It's a very nice (nearly extremely nice) little camera. But I don't really
like the feel of the aperture and shutter control wheels much (the PZ-1
wheels feel better). The feel of the near-shutter release contacts: DOF
and
ON/OFF feel better on the MZ-S, I think. I also miss the feel of holding
the
MZ-S in the sharp edged right hand handle, which is shaped differently on
the *ist D, due to the necessary round shape of the battery compartment.
Other than that, it seems to be a superb little camera - and it makes
sharp
and clear pictures! Very easy to use. Well, I only had it for one hour
(one), so please forgive me, if my statements a based on VERY limited
experiences. Hopefully, I will soon get used to it.

All the best
