In NYC, the 14 year old might like the American Museum of Natural History and the attached planetarium. The Circle Line boat tour around the city is pretty cool, and the ride on the Staten Island ferry gives a good view of the harbor, and it's free! The Empire State Building observation deck shouldn't be missed. Amita
