the Sigma is soft and has some falloff until you stop down quite a bit. 
figure it is an f11 or f13 lens if you want decent quality. even then, it's 
not the sharpest lens in the world. i expect that the DA 14 will be better, 
but they aren't easily obtainable in the US yet

I am after a wide angle lens for my Pentax ist D and will be soon 
travelling to Europe and want to either buy The Sigma 12-24  or Pentax DA 
14.  I would be interested in the views of the discussion group on which 
one I should buy.  Unfortunately I cannot afford both.
