On 9/9/04, Several Green PDMLers, discombobulated, unleashed:

[various snipped remarks]

As Graywolf says, the Ricoh uses K mount. Yes, I am going to adapt it,
but no sawing involved. The aperture lever needs removing, other than
that it's a simple operation involving 6 screws and some patience. I dare
say there will be dust inside so it will be a good opp to clean the lens also.

I'm sourcing a 1Dmll so the A*85 will be used with that - it should make
a sweet portrait lens. Believe me, if Pentax had a similar spec camera, I
would buy the Pentax. The lens will only work in stop-down metering mode,
of aperture priority, which is fine. It will be used solely at wide open
for minimal depth of filed effect, so no problemo.

Canon do make some 85s but to be honest the A* is my fav lens of all time
and you can't beat manual focus for portraiture. The novelty factor is
also appealing.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Cheers,
  Cotty
