Hi Amita,
I have tested with 2 flashes ,the 500FTZ and the dedicated 360FGZ. While I prefer the last one, if I have a wedding to work, I would use the 500! Why?, you can use external battery power with it. I use a Quatum battery with dedicated cable. You can 't with the 360FG, you are limited with AA bats, coverage, and the cycle time is unacceptable for me in a wedding. One test that I have not done yet is to see how the *ist D will do with a Vivitar 285 ( latest version) that I still use sometimes as a fill flash. I also have an Oly E10 and the 285 works fine with it. So let me check latter if the 285 will do a decent job and I will let you know. I like also the Vivitar because they are relaiable, have plenty of power and you can get external power for them to fast cycling. The camera will be limited somehow, I have to experiment and see by myself., for 89 dollars or so they are great.

Anyhow, fro weddings, I used to shoot medium format ( film) and I used to have a Whitelightning set of strobes, of those I used one strobe (800 or 1200) with an umbrella in the ceremony as a second flash unit. I discharged it with a wireless slave. I do not do weddings, professionally, anymore, so I sold out all the strobes I had.

Are there any third-party flashes that will communicate with the istD,
or do I need to get a Pentax flash? Apologies if I asked this already. I
have a wedding coming up in November, and I want to get some nice shots,
but I'd rather not pony up $300 US if I can help it.
