i know of no long telephoto lens that is immune to that. the A* 400/2.8 also has some under those conditions. shots like that aren't saleable even if there were no aberration.

I must say that in the shots I saw that the contrast WAS extreme,
birds against a clear sky. There was a noticable purple edge
along one side of the birds ...
