A tripod isn't always the answer. For example, i was thinking how nice it would be to have image stabilization when I was shooting the wake boarders from a boat. It's also great for something like birding where you have a much better chance of "getting the shot" if you can handhold. However, I agree that the Minolta solution might be more complex and power draining than it's worth. Paul
