The wind kind of woke me up and I came down to check the online weather. I thought some of you might be interested, I doubt that it will be big news on TV.

It's strange, but these hurricanes this year seem to want to drop a lot of water here in the mountains. Winds aren't bad, gusts to 50 or so, but that is common up here. They are predicting 12-16 inches of rain, Frances dropped about 11. So we can expect more flooding and the streams are already high from Frances. The water would only have to get a foot or so higher than the previous flooding for it to reach the apartments here.

They are worried a bit that the storm will hook around and head back southeast. If it does that we could have a week of rain instead of a 3-4 days. The last time a hurricane did that and it rained that much up here was in 1940. That one washed out the railroad to the point they ended all service and abandoned the right of way. However, they say the flooding was worse then because the trees had all been logged off these mountains. Since the 50's they have grown back.

There is an album of photos folks took of the flooding from Frances here also, http://raysweather.com/francespics.php
