In the UK, too. Sheep from the Lake District are routinely taken to the south of England to graze for a few weeks before slaughter, to reduce the isotope levels. I presume that the isotopes are flushed out of the gut and deposited in the field. Come to think of it, I haven't heard of this practice since our foot & mouth epidemic fiasco.
