Last week I was in San Fancisco for the Peoplesoft Connect computer conference. We had a free day so myself and two co-workers rented a car and drove to Yosemite for a very brief visit.
I took my Optio 33L, my Pentaz MZ-7 with FA280-90mm lens, and my Ricomatic TLR medium format camera (so I could capture maximum detail) along. Well we had a nice five hour drive out there. We stopped at the Mariposa Sequoia Grove before entering Yosemite.
As we started climbing the road up to Glacier Point a few snow flakes started falling. I thought that maybe a little snow on the mountains would add to the already magnificent view.......
...... well by the time we reached the summit we were in the midst of a true snowstorm. Visiblity was almost down to zero. The far side of the valley was invisible, no Half Dome or El Capitan to be seen at all :(
Looking over the edge into the valley a few dim shapes could be made out. Sadly our tight schedule didn't allow to wait out the storm so we sadly retraced our steps and head down into Yosemite valley.
It was nice of California to make us Canadians feel at home and provide us with some snow, but I wished it hadn't bothered !!
Down in the valley the snow had changed to rain and the tops of the moutains were still shrouded in cloud. At least the visiblity was much improved. Ah well, it gives me an incentive to get back there again one day.
I've loaded up a couple of shots taken with my Optio 33L, and will be adding some more images once I get my film developed and scanned in.
