I suspect the issue is that the 80 macro has a rear element that sticks out too far for the 1.4x TC to be mounted on the lens. You could always email Sigma and ask. I've found them to be very responsive and thorough when I've done so. (I emailed them to ask about getting a replacement for the drop-in 46mm polarizer for my 300/2.8 lens.
