You've given me a bit too much glory in the title. I didn't test this lens.
In the instance where you are quoting, I am just reporting on the test
that was done of the SMC-F 70-210mm in Modern Photography. This same lens
gets a much better rating on Photodo, of 3.4. I guess that just means there
can be considerable sample to sample variation. Ideally, anybody considering
buying this lens should do so from a source where a refund is available in
case the particular one they get is a dud.
