Either you're not Catholic, or you had a real push-over of a priest in
the confessional.

When I was a kid (and I went in with exactly the same confession each
time:  "I disobeyed my parents, uh, I didn't do all my homework, uh,
er, I lied, and ummm, ah, I think I committed a bunch more venial sins
that I can't remember just now..."), our priest ~started~ with decades
of the Rosary, and if we were real bad, we had to do several Rosaries.

Mind you, that was Quebec, where the Church ruled, and they were (so
they thought) in no danger of losing their power, so they could
instill the Fear of God and the Church (is there a difference?) into
us.

Maybe in Jolley Olde England the Evil Papists have a harder sell, and
have to go easy on ya, so they don't lose too many to the Anglicans...
