I remember seeing some telescopes on eBay a couple of years back, but got the distinct impression that Pentax was out of the stargazing business. Maybe it's a one-off for a research project or something?

Pentax telescopes have not been distributed in north america. What about Europe? But they are popular in Japan especially since they made some cheap models for schools - besides very expensive ones for, I guess, serious business...
