Do you need an extra stop? That depends on what you are shooting. I have an M*4/300mm which serves me well in good light.
I'd consider buying both of them and then resell the FA 600 as well as the old A 4/300. The FA 2.8/300mm is supposedto be one of the best 300mm lenses on the planet. In Denmark the list prise for the FA 2.8/300mm is close to 10.000 Euro. The list price for the FA 600 is 12.500 Euro, according to the Danish Pentax improter; Fovitech.
