Noooo! Read the directions again. The powder should make a quart or a liter of stock solution, not 800ml. You should mix the powder with 800ml or so of hot water, and then top off until you get a quart or a liter (depending on how Kodak's packaging the developer these days). That's the correct amount for your stock solution. Then, if you want to develop with a 1:1 working solution, mix only the amount you'll need. So, if your developing tank holds 16 ounces of solution, mix 8 ounces of stock solution with 8 ounces of water to make the working solution. Do not dilute the stock solution unless you know you will use it ALL in a day or so. Diluted D-76 will tend to oxidize more rapidly than the stock solution, and lose its effectiveness.
