Hi Derby,

I got to play with a friend's S5i a few weeks ago- IIRC, the focusing did
sound a bit odd, but more like someone sitting on a beanbag rather than
grains of rice in the camera. The sound I got didn't particularly sound like
a rattle. You could try shaking the camera just to see if it does have
something broken off inside, but I'm thinking it's unlikely.
