May be true, but isn't $7k for body only? That starts getting costly fastly!

Right. You know, in my opinion, the digital camera industry would have done itself a favor had they changed the name of the "format" that is APS-sized, and brainstormed another name for it.
To be saddled with a name that conjures up visions of ill-fated cameras and a more or less reviled and now essentially dead film format, all for good reason...is hardly conducive to good sales.
MDF? Medium Digital Format? Same size as APS except for the name...

And, "medium" ties into the residual cachet of "medium format," which always sits well with serious photographers...

Just an observation...

Right again ~ another good observation.

I went from a 1.3 MP camera (Epson PC750Z) - my first digital camera, now in another's grateful hands - to an Optio S4 (4 MP) to an Olympus C-5050Z (5 MP.)
While I may go to a larger number of pixels in my future, I really don't know that I'm particularly anxious to divest myself of either the S4 OR the C-5050!
Both are really excellent examples of their breed, and I think when I do get another digital camera, an 8 or even maybe an 11 MP someday (not likely and certainly not necessary!) it will be because I can finally use my lens collection with it, and I'll end up keeping these two—just like I still have a number of Pentax film bodies from the M-42 and K-mount days.
