That number doesn't sound right to me because the human eye can see only about 15 stops range max at a time and if you spread out 24 bit resolution over 15 stops that would be approx 500 steps per fstop as being clearly discernable between each of the 500 steps. I know I cant see differences anywhere near that fine. Id like to read more on this, anyone have any good URLS on the subject?
