Now that I have decided that I need a short fast zoom I need a little help

The Sigma is less than half the price of the Tokina, but how is the quality?
I've not heard anything bad about the EX series lenses but I'd like to hear
from someone that has used one.

I have the Sigma and I used to own the Tokina. I didn't sell one to buy the other, they just happen to be different mounts. I have absolutely no complaints about either lens. I didn't use the Tokina on digital so can't say if any flaws would show up, but the Sigma I have and it's been great so far. The Tokina seems to be a bit heftier, but the Sigma's no lightweight either.
I haven't done any scientific tests of lines and resolutions and such, just used them both and I have been pleased with the quality of both the build and the end result.
I have the Sigma 100-300/4 EX and am pretty pleased with that too.
