I don't see any advantage in this. There already is a standard bus in many of the cameras - CF. But some manufacturers aren't using it; they chose SD instead (and other manufacturers use both). Expecting camera makers to standardise on yet another interface is a pipe dream.
I don't want a camera bulked up to take something larger than a CF card. Nor do I forsee a need for more in-camera storage than the capacity of current CF media (12GB, I believe), let alone the capacity in development. I think we'll see more wireless download (not just in high-end cameras), which means you rarely have to take the media out of the camera at all, so there's less opportunity for the media to get lost.
