Hi, I received a notice today from the Visual Journalism group of the RPS about a very interesting forthcoming event which may be of interest to people within reach of London.
Chris Boot, former director of Magnum, has a book coming out of interviews of 61 Magnum photographers. It comes out next month - just in time for Christmas, hint, hint - and is called 'Magnum Stories'. >From the blurb on Amazon: "This book explores the 'photo story' through 61 master classes by some of the world's greatest photographers, all members of the international photographic agency Magnum. Henri Cartier-Bresson, Eve Arnold, Elliott Erwitt and their colleagues use the photo story as a vehicle to explain their approach to taking and editing photographs." On Dec 17th the VJ Group is holding a Q&A session with Chris Boot and up to 9 (nine!) Magnum photographers. They say "the nature of photojournalism makes it impossible to confirm who the photographers will be, but they could include any or all of: Stuart Franklin, Martin Parr, Chris Steele-Perkins, Thomas Hoepker, Thomas Dworak, Karl de Keyzer, Patick Zachmann, Hiroji Kubota and Dennis Stock". Tickets are 5.00 and selling fast. It starts at 6.30pm, and is at the Guardian Newsroom, 60, Farringdon Road, London. To book, contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] I can't make it because I have a prior committment on that date, annoyingly. -- Cheers, Bob
