William, et. al.,
First let me say that even if official PUG comments don't continue I will appreciate
any comments people care to share. I participate in this community for three reasons.
#1-To help me wisely spend my money on (primariy used)equipment. #2 - To help me
understand the equipment I own. #3-To improve my photography.
So far I have taken a very small number of pictures that I think are pretty good.
Some by accident and a couple most recently because I visualized what I wanted and
carefully worked through the process to get the image I was after. I want to maximize
on that process. I am 100% amateur and want to be better. My submission this month
is not my best work. I was travelling cross country and happend to be at the location
for about 30 minutes late morning as the family took a rest stop. Due, at least, to
direct lighting, It is a picture that pushed my abilities a little too far. I
submitted it in hopes to get one or two people to offer one or two straightforward
suggestions to make it incrementally better. Hey, this picture is where I am. After
a few thousand incremental improvements I may be where some of you are. Remember, it
took you years to get there.
Consequently, my hope is we continue with the commentary process. The other morning
when I read Shel's commentary I thought "Ouch! Shel must have gotten up on the wrong
side of the bed. He's gonna hear about this." And hear he did! So, to me, we all
found out that so much honesty, not tempered with a more graceful delivery is outside
what many in the group consider to be socially acceptable. We all learned a little
better where to set the boundaries. I think it's premature to pull the plug on
commenting on the PUG. (rhyme intended) Geez! It's only the second month.
I think the comments were a great idea. I hope they continue. Thanks for all the
work so far.
