I'm in Salt Lake City, so maybe I can help you with
that. Utah seems to be quite a desert in regard to
Pentax gear, new and used. Rumor has it that we'll
have an MZ-S May 9th at Inkley's (part of Ritz) but
the current situation on new Pentax anywhere here in
Utah (that I'm aware of) is that anything above the
ZX-7 is a special order item. So you can imagine what
the lens selection is like. Thank heaven for
mail-order.
For used, the best bet is a place called Forster's
Camera service. They are an authorized Pentax repair
shop, and their prices are similar to KEH. Last time
I was in they had an ME, and MX, and a few screw mount
lenses (but no "K", except for the 50's on the ME and
MX). I lucked out and picked up a genuine Pentax "K"
to screw adapter new in the box for $2.00. If
interested I can give you their address and phone #.
Another place that may be worth checking into is
called Howell's, but his prices are pretty stiff (he
still has several new in box A3000's, they were
discontinued in what, 1988 or so?) Again, I can send
contact info if you would like.
If there is any other information I can gather for you
to help you prepare for your trip please do not
hesitate to ask.
William in Utah.
