Does the *ist DS have a body-mounted aperture control that works with A or K
lenses!!!?????

*AND*, most importantly, the camera is in manual mode.

If it's in Av mode, with an old lens mounted, it will meter with the
lens wide open (just as it does with an A-or-later lens mounted and
set to the A position).  Then when you come to make the exposure it
will leave the aperture wide open while the shutter operates (although
it will then briefly stop the lens down *after* the exposure - weird!)

But which is only necessary if the camera doesn't already know the aperture.
With a body-mounted aperture control no additional coupling is needed.
