It is chewing gum, and it's all over the bloody place in this city! Spitting (whether gum or just, well, spit) is a real pet peeve of mine, and it quite frankly grosses me out when I see people gobbing all over the sidewalks and streets. I don't know what it is, but over the last few years it's become an epidemic around these parts. I was raised right my my mother. I throw my used gum in the garbage. And I never spit on the ground. Okay, I'm done acting like an old codger now... <vbg> cheers, frank -- "Sharpness is a bourgeois concept." -Henri Cartier-Bresson
