This month, my assignments were about the images

" Daydreamer " by Amber Dayton
" Breathless Cathedral " by Herbet Camerino Brasileiro
" A Pretty and Patient Bride " by Casey Szocinski
" Blue Eyes " by Tiger Moses

So, here are my comments below.

" Daydreamer " by Amber Dayton

This is a really nice image of the big ape! You captured
his expression very well. I find this picture interesting
because it depicts the ape as if it had human feelings:
depending on how I look at it, I am under the impression
that he is either bored or sad. I think you showed great
sensititivity in the way you approched your subject. You
also nicely focused the lens on the ape's eyes, which is
very important when photographing animals. Personally,
I find the ropes in the background slightly distracting
as they appear quite bright (particularly the one right
behind the head) against the darker background. A
suggestion for improvement could thus be to concentrate
more on the ape's face, which would allow to remove the
ropes and further insist on the ape's absent look.

Congratulations and continue taking picture on your own!

" Breathless Cathedral " by Herbet Camerino Brasileiro

That's indeed a beautiful view of the cathedral! I really
like the contrast between the the warm and cold tones of
the yellowish and blue lights. It really makes the
picture in my opinion. I suppose it works well because
these are complementary colors. Unfortunately, on such a
small view, it's quite difficult to see all the details
that are likely present on the original. I have the
impression that some parts of the picture look slightly
blurred. Is it from the scan ?

I do not have much more to say about it, other than I
like it!

" A Pretty and Patient Bride " by Casey Szocinski

This is one of my favorite picture this month! I
particularly like how the tones of the room and of the
bride complement each other very well. By the way, this
room seems nearly as beautiful as the bride :-). I also
like the overall brightness of the image, which I find
well-adapted to the theme of the wedding. Sometimes, when
I look at the picture for longer, I wonder however if the
bride isn't too much centered. I also find that around
her eyes, her face is relatively dark. I think I'd prefer
it to be slightly lighter.

Nice portrait in any case!

" Blue Eyes " by Tiger Moses

By being critical, I do not want my comments to generate
the same traffic than what we have seen recently, but
isn't the effect a bit overdone :-) ? I think the red
lipstick is too much for me. In my opinion, it distracts
from the eyes of the model, which otherwise are a very
strong point of this picture. I do not say, nor think,
that you should desaturate completely the image, (I like
the slight magenta tint for example) but my impression is
that the contrast between the dark lips and light eyes
works better with black and white than with red and blue.

I really love the model's big eyes in this picture!

Regards to all of you,

Yves
