Electrics seem to have come a long way over the past few years.
Yes, they certainly have. An R/C receiver and electronic speed control together weigh less than 1/2 ounce. 1500 Mah lithium polymer batteries weigh about the same or less than a full 6 ounce glow fuel tank.
They burn even better than glow fuel if you charge/discharge them too quickly, too.
Although I don't have any yet, the brushless motors have a very good thrust/weight ratio.
