Any opinions over here. Mechanical I think is less than the Pentax, but optical???
The tester of japanese Camerart magazine did like it a lot. If I remember well, they compared its "delineation" (their prefered term for assessing optical quality) to be closer to german optics than to japanese. I wonder who made it as Ricoh were not making their own lenses. Some Ricoh XR are optically identical to Pentax-M lenses (28/3.5 and 200/4 for example, having even exactly the same coating color of each element, same internal baffling pieces).
You may not know that your Takumar can be cured of its "yellow curse". Just leave the lens pointed toward the sun (or a UV lamp) for a few weeks, and the yellow cast will be gone.
