One thing I haven't seen mentioned here.
The ist D also has an "AF-C" mode.
It will continually try to focus on the subject
when the shutter release is pressed half way.
It WILL NOT lock the shutter, you can fire the
shutter whether focus has locked or not.
Sounds like the answer to your focus is
"good enough" at F11 situation.
The AF-C mode is also available on the SF-1n,
it's called "Servo" mode there. This mode is
the only reason I won't part with my SF-1n.
I wish my 5n's had this feature.
