The slower is a consumer grade zoom, while the 3.5 constant aperture
  is truly a 2.8 class zoom. I've seen shots taken with it wide open
  and resolution and contrast are remarkable. Besides, it is very well
  built and has the best ergonomics design I've seen at a one touch
  zoom.
