I don't believe for an instant you can damage the filter with a gentle touch with a Q-Tip. The only worry would be the hair leaving oil or residue behind. This should get you shooting until one of the others on the list can give you the best method for cleaning the filter. (If needed) Several methods have been discussed but I've never tried them.
