While your points are quite valid, Graywolf (as you know) -- it is also true that many people in the USA have a lot more than they think they do. (IOW there are folks who think they have it tough and don't realize how desperate some other people can be -- on the other side of the world or, even, on the other side of town.) Jay's comment could be read as referring to those people rather than the genuine have-nots to whom you refer. ERNR
