I was just flipping through the paper (the Age Green Guide) and saw an add for the *istDS. The add said it arrives next week and you can order it for AU$1499.95 with a Sigma 18-125 zoom. Right next to it on the add was the D70 with a Nikon 28-100 zoom for AU$1799.95 (after $200 cashback). The specs listed on each all came out in favour of the Pentax.
