Hmm.. Okay.
I found that PC mode by itself wouldn't work for me under Linux on my laptop, PC-F mode worked fine. Going through a USB 2.0 hub, allows PC mode to work without issue.
Now to work out if I need to get a cheap dedicated flash or if I can turn of P-TTL :).

Matthew

Does anyone know the difference between PC and PC-F on the *istDS (or even the *istD?)
According to the manual (you know, that piece of packing material that came in the box along with the shiny new toy :-) PC-F slows down the maximum transfer rate over the USB connector to USB 1.1 speeds, while PC allows transfers at USB 2.0 speeds.
This menu item is not available on the *ist-D, which only has USB 1.1
