Rob, I use a D-Lab 2 and the prints I get are quite sharp and crisp (printed as is, no changes from the operators, minimal USM from my part - I much dislike garrish sharpening of most digital prints nowadays).
Except that once it happened that I received prints obviously not as sharp as I sent. Looking closer it became apparent that red and blue channels were grossly mis-registered. You may want to closely inspect your prints for that.
