I had a coworker ask me the typical question yesterday:
What's a good digital camera to buy?
I asked "Are you looking for a P&S or an SLR"?
Huh?
"Do you want one with the lens built in or one with changeable lenses".
Changeable.
"Do you already have a film camera, with changeable lenses?"
Yes.
"What brand?"
A Minolta.
"Are the lenses autofocus?"
Yes.
"Then I'd take a look at the Konica-Minolta Maxxum 7".

I agree with you, Tom. I generally feel the same way. However, most potential buyers do not own a Pentax lens collection to influence their final choise of DSLR equipment.
