With screw-mount lenses and the M42-K adapter the lenses stop down as soon as you move the aperture ring, even if you get the later auto-Takumar lenses designed for use with the Spotmatic F. That's good, in one way - it means that the LX (and many other models, up to and including the *ist-DS) will work perfectly well with these lenses, giving you Aperture Priority auto-exposure. The drawback is that the viewfinder gets darker as you stop down, so it can sometimes be difficult to check focus.
