And a message for the panoply of PDMLers.

Here in the Rio Grande Flyway we get wintering avifauna from Wheatfield Willie's part of the hemisphere. I haven't photographed them much, but keep meaning to. Well, about 150 meters from us a farmer grew a field of something last summer, and now the cranes and geese have camped out there to get the gleanings. Cool. I went out even before breakfast this morning to catch some shots. Mostly on the ground, a few flying in. I'm going to have to work on technique, especially for the airborne ones. Patience obviously helps.

Equipment: *ist D and Tokina AT-X AF 400 f5.6. It brought them in almost too close, especially the flying ones. I may try the Sigma EX 70-200, maybe with the 1.4x extender.

A fun morning of putting to use the equipment that I gripe about here.
