Being Jewish means belonging to certain nationality, Juan.

If that supposed to be "a certain nationality" (singular) or "certain nationalities," which I'm sure you or someone can actually identify, if asked.

And the
fact that you children will be Jewish, as was mentioned earlier,
reflects a tradition. It has nothing to do with religion. Among Jews
(both religious and secular ones), the Jewishness is passed through
mother's line of blood.

How do you account for Sammy Davis Jr., just for one of many? Or do you deny he was a Jew?
In llilght of wish, and all the others like him who don't quite fit a Middle European mold, I must respectfully ask, what _is_ the nationality of a Jew?
There have been and still are _many_ self-described Jews in most of the European, and many Asian counties, for an example of what puzzles me about your statement...
It seems it's that very thing that's trying to be established this last 50+ years, no? And that's ignoring the centuries before that, where Jewish "homeland' was (and is) trying to be solidified and recognized...
This is not being said out of contentiousness, but out of what understanding I have, incomplete tho' it may be...

I'll gladly take this offline, should anyone wish to continue a discussion out of public scrutiny and to avoid annoyance by those who might somehow take offense at an intellectual discussion such as this... <g>

Though it is heavily OT, I thought I'd mention that, simply because it
would seem that pretty harmless comment is causing this discussion to
take unexpected direction.
