Thanks everyone,

I think the 400t grip would do gr8 for what I need. Now I have to source one.

Subject: Flash Brackets & 5P Flashes

I'm looking for a decent and hopefully not ridiculously expensive flash
bracket to mount may af-500FTZ off camera to end up with a handle mount
type setup like the 400t. I'm interested in doing contrast control flash
with the 500ftz and the built in flash on the MZ-S.

I'v already got the necessary 5P cord and hot shoe adapter that allows the
popup flash to open properly.

You could try the Pentax hot shoe grip and bracket. You'd have to buy one
more part, (hotshoe F I think).
IIRC correctly the 500 connects directly to a 5P cord so you might not need
it if you pull the contacts out of the grip. I have mine connected to the
360, works like a charm

I don't see why you need to have the contacts pulled or why you need another part (which would put the flash in a precarious position and is recommended against by Pentax). The Pentax grip does not carry any signal; you would have to use a (4P) cable to activate the hotshoe.

I use the Pentax grip with the 500FTZ with the parts Patrick describes
and without any problems.
