Thanks everybody for the comments on these lenses.
Because of them, and because I like manual focus lenses better and haven't tried it, I just ordered an EX example of the 35-70 from KEH. Seems like it will be a nice walkaround lens for the istD.

At least on my SuperA+MotorA it is very nice lens for about anything... I'm sure you'll be satisfied with it.
