I've had the Pentax macro rail for about 3 years. Mine's a bit wobbly,
and not the smoothest thing in the world, but it's perfectly servicable.
The nicest macro rail I've ever tried is the velbon magnesium slider.
Very smooth.
There's a couple of models out there that do side to side in addition to
front to back movements. They might be worth a look.
