After looking at other press releases, I don't think it's a ZLR. It looks
like the optical viewfinder is still there. I'll bet the "Live Image Mode"
moves the mirror, opens the mechanical shutter, and captures an image from
the CCD a couple of times a second. Look out, batteries!

That looks like it. Apparently, it limits your "Live Image Mode" to about 30 seconds.

I've not revisited it since, but according to the preview published some months back now, this live mode is limited to black and white viewing, and you also cannot trip the shutter while in live mode; you have to exit live to take a shot.


I suppose it allows you to use it as an expensive light meter, but unless they've improved this in the production model, it largely falls in to the gimmick category to me...
