Hi Rob thanks a lot for your answer. I have to find out whether I underexposed the shot or if the color cast is simply from the scan. with the Canon.
The printed photo looks good me, but may be color corrected. I will try adding some green as you suggested, thanks. Considering the loss of the negative scanning , do you find the photo unsharp too, I think you own the same lens? Next time I try with 2-4 photo lamps instead of the flash... I already use the macro lens instead of the normal 50mm when limited to a single lens and enjoy it a lot. greetings Markus > > I got a nearly new Pentax A50mm 2.8 macro lens from an internet auction and this > PESO is one of the first shots I made with it. > > http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=2963802 It's a good shot but it does have a bit of strange cast, it's tending to magenta, adding green seems to bring it back to where I expect it should be. I don't have any feathers these days for reference but we did have two Peacocks at home for many years. Sometimes it's advantageous to use soft light to shoot these types of reflective feathers as it's a little difficult to predict the results from flash, angle and position can change the reflections quite surprisingly.
