Yes. I have one on my desk. It is a beautiful thing.
I have the 6x8. I think it is a big enough work area, and the entire tablet measures some 25x33cm.
I expect the 12x9 would be huge, and possibly unworkable unless you have a very large desk to put it on.
My desktop is smaller than yours, at 2560x960.
